About ferrets - ferret facts
Hi, Freddy here again. This is where I tell you more facts about us ferrets that don't fit in anywhere else.
Dogs go woof, cats go meow, and ferrets go...?
We go bub, bub, bub. If we're excited we go bub, bub, bub very quickly. If we're calmer, we go bub, bub, bub more slowly.
How long do ferrets live for?
We can live for up to around 10 years.
Are ferrets nasty, sneaky animals?
Authors have given us a bad reputation. For some reason, they use "ferret" to mean a human who is treacherous and cowardly. In my humble opinion, ferrets are brave and if our owners treat us well, we treat them well. I wish humans could be as straightforward as ferrets.
How can I tell if a ferret is angry?
We'll say bub, bub, bub so quickly that it sounds like a chattering sound. Our tails will bristle outwards so that they look like brushes. We can also do this when we're playing - but it's a sure sign we're excited about something.
Are ferrets best kept alone or with other ferrets?
Most ferrets prefer company, although it's okay to keep us on our own. If you keep a single ferret, you need to give it lots of time and attention. We are intelligent animals and get bored if you don't.
Should ferrets be washed?
Give us a bath every month or two. We don't like it much but it keeps us clean.
